A Year Later

Looking back at Bugs' 1st birthday, a lot has changed, both mentally and physically. I can't believe I let me weight get the best of me, I still have 20 pounds to lose until I've reached my goal, but I've came so far and I'm proud of myself.

Then
Now
Then
Now
 Then

 Now

My baby is no longer a baby! (Tear!) Anyways, I've had people email me asking how I continue to do it. Let me say, I'm not a fitness goddess nor do I always eat healthy. Having a husband who has the fastest metabolism and hardly gains any weight no matter what he eats, is handwork itself. Like this for instance, on my way home from the gym he said he had something for me and it was my favorite..maybe a smoothie?

Yup, that would be my favorite candy ever! While I give him kudos for knowing my favorite candy, this doesn't help my waistline. And if I don't eat some, I feel guilty because he bought one for me. So yes, I eat unhealthy some days, probably more than I would like, but just because you fall down doesn't matter, it's that you get back up and start again.

Look Who's Two & Happy Father's Day

We had an awesome birthday party turn out yesterday, I want to say thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating our Bugs' 2nd birthday. In case you don't know I'm crazy obsessed with party planing. Seriously, it's an addiction, I started planning her 2nd birthday party when she had just turned 1. Yes, I know, some people call me nuts, but I enjoy doing it. My party planning inspiration is Tori Spelling, I LOVE her! (Another obsession) I had so many ideas for this birthday my husband had to calm me down or else we would've emptied our account..
Getting busy on crafts the night before.

The Minnie Mouse centerpiece I made, they're so adorable!

Woke up at 5am the morning of the party to bake some goodies. Only downfall was, I ran out of sugar for my coffee!!

The cake! I love the work our cake lady does, it's always tasty and she has some great skills!

I can't tell who was more excited, mommy or Bug?

Kaelyn's birthday present from mommy and daddy! Can I just say my husband as awesome talent, he made this himself which saved us tons of money compared to buying one. Before we had Kaelyn, I remember him saying he couldn't wait to build our kids a swing set one day, well here it is and she loves it : )

Happy second birthday pretty girl! We love you so much and you bring more joy to our hearts than you will ever know.

Happy Father's Day

A birthday and Father's Day to celebrate in one day, talk about busy.

My dad has always been my #1 fan, he has taught me many of the good qualities I have today. His one rule was as long as I don't lie to him, I won't be in any trouble and that will be a rule with my own kids. I'm his only child, so he was extra protective over me, I remember being extremely nervous about him meeting Matt, my dad wasn't too fond of me dating. I love knowing that no matter what time of the day it is, I can call him and he will be there to listen to me.

I love you dad, thank you for all that you are and everything that you've taught me. I'll forever be your little girl. And I can wait to see the love that Kaelyn and Matt will have between each other like my father and I.

Sweet Lullabies

Last night was one of those times with a feeling of guilt over being a working mom.  The majority of the time being a working mom doesn't bother me - I work because I need to help support my family. Most days (most, not all), the good outweighs the bad, but yesterday was not one of those days.

Kaelyn and I will sit on the couch occasionally before bed and read books. This time she laid on my lap while I rubbed her hair singing lullabies to her over and over again. It's moments like this I cherish, mommy and daughter time.

When I find myself feeling guilty for being away I remind myself first, and most importantly I am doing what is best for my family. I am supporting and loving them with every minute that I am away. It provides us a means to live comfortably without always being obsessed with the dollar amount in the bank.

We also went to the splash pad, seems to be the routine on the days that I'm off. Here are a few pictures. The girl is crazy about Watermelon!

Can I just say this - no matter how many good days, or bad days - I LOVE being a momma!

Reuse Disposable Swim Diapers

We have a community pool in our neighborhood and a kiddie pool in our backyard meaning, we spend a lot of time in the water. Before I discovered this idea, we were buying swim diapers almost every week which would cost $9.99 each time! I don't know about you, but I much rather spend my money elsewhere. I will admit, the thought of washing a used diaper kind of freaked me out until I saw how well it does work!

  • Only wash wet swim diapers.
  • When you’re ready to wash, just toss the diaper in the washing machine along with the rest of your laundry load.
  • Let the swim diaper air dry.
  • Reuse your swim diapers until they start falling apart!
